Michael Bartlett

Attorney

Michael Bartlett is an attorney at Burns & Hassman, and a seasoned litigator, regulatory attorney, and trusted advisor.  He has a diverse legal and business background including public service & international business experience.  Complex problem solving and tackling tough challenges are two areas where Michael excels for his clients.

Like Burns & Hassman attorney Frank Benton, Michael graduated from Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2008.  He began his legal career in a general practice firm known at the time as Taliaferro, Mehling, Shirooni, Carran & Keys, where he focused on state and federal litigation matters.  Michael’s legal experience also includes serving as Assistant Kenton County Attorney, overseeing all delinquent tax and occupational license fee compliance matters.  He later practiced with the well-established litigation firm Markesbery & Richardson, where he provided representation to clients across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

In 2015, Michael found his way back to public service when he joined the City of Covington as an Assistant City Solicitor.  His initial responsibilities included management of delinquent tax and foreclosure programs and serving as Alcoholic Beverage Control Administrator.  During his tenure at Covington, Michael rose through the legal ranks, becoming City Solicitor in 2018.  As City Solicitor, Michael managed and oversaw all legal aspects impacting the organization ranging from general liability claims to multimillion-dollar public-private partnerships and real estate developments.

The lure of a private sector startup experience drew Michael to NS Talent Solutions, where he was ultimately appointed Chief Operating Officer.  Headquartered in Fort Wright, Kentucky, NS Talent Solutions specialized in providing high quality back-office remote staffing solutions for North American logistics and transportation companies.  As COO, he oversaw and managed all business development and operational activities in the United States and in the company’s remote offices in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.

Most recently, Michael returned to the public sector as the Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Elsmere, Kentucky.  In this role, Michael led a team tasked with continuously improving community growth and operational efficiencies.  With his background as a licensed attorney and proficiency in problem solving, Michael succeeded by improving collaboration within the organization and positioning it for long term success.

Michael is a lawyer, business owner, husband and father.  He enjoys spending time with his wife and three children at their home in Edgewood, Kentucky or in the woods on dirt bikes and all terrain vehicles.  He is an outdoors enthusiast and is as comfortable in a board room as he is behind the controls of heavy equipment.
